Christarchy: The Way
Statement of Faith
Our Identity
Christarchy: The Way is a restoration of proto-Christian practice as lived by the earliest followers of Jesus—the ekklesia gathered in and around Jerusalem before institutional structures, denominational divisions, and systematic creeds reshaped the faith. We walk the same Way that was closed at the Tree of Life in Genesis 3:24 and reopened through Jesus, leading ultimately to the restored access described in Revelation 22.
The Nature of God
We understand God through what we call Functional Incarnation of the Logos—a recognition that YHWH Elohim revealed Himself in Jesus (the Logos made flesh) and moves as Spirit among us. We embrace the mystery of God’s nature without requiring adherence to later Trinitarian formulations, returning instead to the earlier, less systematized understanding of the first believers.
Jesus is not a second person of a Trinity, but YHWH Himself incarnate—the same God who established covenant with Israel, now dwelling among us in human form to restore what was broken.
The Arc of Scripture: One Betrothal, Renewed
The Bible portrays history as a single, continuous love story—one sacred betrothal between God and His people:
Betrothal Begun: YHWH and Israel at Sinai
God established covenant with Israel as a husband betroths a bride
Torah served as the betrothal agreement
The prophets acted as covenant enforcers, constantly calling Israel back to faithfulness
Betrothal Broken: Israel’s Unfaithfulness
Israel repeatedly broke faith (the prophets use adultery language throughout)
God divorced/put away His unfaithful bride (Jeremiah 3:8, Isaiah 50:1)
The covenant was suspended, though never permanently abandoned
Betrothal Renewed: Jesus and the Ekklesia
Jesus (YHWH incarnate) came to restore the broken betrothal
The “New Covenant” (Jeremiah 31:31-34) is actually the renewal of the original betrothal
The Bride is now expanded to include all who respond in faith—Jew and Gentile grafted into the same olive tree (Romans 11)
Same Groom, restored and expanded Bride
Betrothal Continues: The Preparation Period
We currently live in betrothal time—the period between covenant renewal and final consummation
The ekklesia is being prepared, purified, and made ready
This is our “year and a day” before the wedding feast
Betrothal Consummated: The Wedding Feast to Come
Christ will return for His Bride
The wedding supper of the Lamb (Revelation 19)
The Bride enters the Groom’s household forever
Full restoration and eternal union
This understanding shapes everything we do, especially our approach to marriage. We believe earthly marriages should reflect the sacred reality that we live in betrothal time—a period of serious preparation before full union, and a testimony that even broken covenants can be restored through faithfulness and love.
The Way of Love
Jesus fulfilled and perfected the Law, distilling it into two essential commands:
Love God (Theos) with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength
Love your neighbor as yourself
He taught that the world would recognize His followers by their love for one another. This love—sacrificial, intentional, and active—is the defining marker of those who walk The Way.
Living Sacraments
Rather than ritualized sacraments divorced from daily life, we believe that good works driven by love for God and humanity serve as living sacraments—worldly manifestations of heavenly grace. These acts of love, justice, mercy, and service are both tracked by the Father and recognized by the ekklesia as evidence of genuine faith.
We do not seek salvation through works, but we understand that authentic faith in Christ naturally produces works of love, and these works are themselves sacred.
Our Practice
Walking The Way means:
Simplicity over complexity: Following the two great commandments rather than endless religious rules
Love over law: Recognizing that love fulfills all righteous requirements
Community over institution: Building authentic ekklesia rather than institutional hierarchy
Preparation over presumption: Taking commitment seriously, whether to God or to one another
Restoration over condemnation: Believing that broken covenants can be renewed through faithfulness
Works over words: Demonstrating faith through tangible acts of love
Marriage and Covenant
Because we live in betrothal time, and because we understand that God Himself entered a betrothal that was broken and then renewed, we believe marriage should be entered with both seriousness and hope. We restore the practice of Handfasting as a means of:
Providing couples a preparation period before full marriage (reflecting our own betrothal period with Christ)
Creating clear covenant agreements (not mere contracts)
Honoring both Celtic and Hebrew betrothal traditions
Acknowledging that preparation takes time and intentionality
Offering hope that even relationships with past failures can be restored
Reflecting the sacred betrothal between Christ and His ekklesia
Our Calling
Christarchy: The Way exists to:
Restore proto-Christian practice stripped of later institutional additions
Guide couples into covenant marriages built on intentional preparation
Train celebrants who understand the sacred nature of betrothal and marriage
Build ekklesia marked by love, good works, and authentic community
Walk the restored Way that leads back to the Tree of Life
Proclaim that broken covenants can be renewed through the faithful love of God
“I am the way, and the truth, and the life.” - Jesus (John 14:6)
“I will betroth you to me forever; I will betroth you in righteousness and justice, in love and compassion.” - YHWH (Hosea 2:19)
“By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” - Jesus (John 13:35)
